        5. 1964

          At the age of five, Kors redesigned his mother's wedding gown for her second marriage. This early act of creativity demonstrates his innate talent and passion for fashion design.

        6. 1970

          Kors opens his first store, the Iron Butterfly Boutique, in his mother's basement.

        7. 1977

          At age 18, Kors enrolls at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, but drops out after only nine months to pursue opportunities in the fashion world.

        8. 1978

          Kors begins working as a salesman at Lothar's, a Manhattan boutique.

          He quickly rises through the ranks to become both a designer and visual merchandiser, gaining invaluable experience that lays the foundation for his future success.
