        6. His fellow students there were Dufy and Braque. The three artists became lifelong friends and clearly influenced one another's work throughout their careers. In 1898, Friesz moved to Paris and shortly thereafter studied in the studio of Bonnat.

          Othon Friesz's early art from this period shows an inclination towards impressionism. In the first years of the new century, however, he sought to break away from impressionist forms and he became associated with Henri Matisse.

          Together the
